The new look of colour

Venlo, the Netherlands, 19 June 2007 — Océ today announced the introduction of the Océ CS240, the first of a series of three new colour multifunction systems for office environments. Océ will introduce the other two systems in July and September. The Océ CS231 (45 ipm colour and black & white), the Océ CS240 (45 ipm colour and 55 ipm black & white) and the Océ CS250 (55 ipm colour and 65 ipm black & white) all feature printing, copying, scanning, optional faxing and a variety of finishing modules. The distinct 360° design makes a unique addition to offices, workgroups or departments.

Flexible colour options for offices and workgroups

Océ is offering the systems to bring affordable colour to offices and workgroups. 'Colour has really become desirable in office environments,' says Rächel Achouak, product manager for the Océ CS231/240/250. 'The three systems meet colour needs in a variety of settings: from the entry-level CS231 to the CS250, which can handle workflows in large offices and even light production printing environments. The systems all have several options, so customers can adapt the configuration to their own needs.'   

Options include:

  • Faxing
  • Extended input capacity, up to 6,650 sheets
  • Extended output capability, up to 3,100 sheets
  • Océ software for additional workflow control

Quality and versatility

The Océ CS231/240/250 features high colour fidelity and crisp printing, smooth grey scales and more. Print quality is highly stable, so long runs maintain consistency, whilst the scanning functionality features improved fusing and image stabilisation, enhancing both copying and scan-to-file.
 
In addition to the four-in-one functionality, the Océ CS231/240/250 offers a choice of finishing options: stapling, booklet finishing, punching, stitching, z-folding, cover insertion and a mail bin unit. The systems also handle a wide variety of media (A6-A3 full bleed, customised paper sizes; paper weight: 64-256 g/m² from all paper trays, up to 300 g/m² from the bypass).  

Ease of use contributes to low TCO

The systems contain a number of features that contribute to easy operation. The intuitive display is easy to read; an enlarged screen even enables visually impaired users to operate the system. LED indicators show machine status, which further facilitates quick responses and reduces machine downtime. Users can access the system from their desks, or plug a memory stick directly into the printer.
 
'We wanted systems that would be very user friendly,' says Achouak. 'This contributes to a low total cost of ownership, because end users make fewer mistakes. The systems also include software counters for colour, black & white, prints per paper size etc., programmable for each user. So users can effectively track back costs and plan colour usage.'   

Security features are standard

The Océ CS231/240/250 protects user data and documents in several ways. The system can holds documents until a user enters a password to print. In addition, SSL and encrypted PDF ensure data transmission security, whilst password-accessible user accounts, IP filtering and port management control system access.
 
Users can also add background watermarks to prints that show if someone recopies the documents. An overwriting feature guarantees secured hard disk formatting. The system prevents internal hard disk removal because removal without a password renders data inaccessible. Additional hard disk encryption is also available.   

Rounding out the Océ colour portfolio

The Océ CS231/240/250 are the newest additions to the Océ colour office portfolio. This also contains:

  • The Océ CS172(P), which is available as a multifunctional or printer-only device for small offices
  • The Océ CS175 and Océ CS191, which offer extended colour performance, certainly via their optional Fiery controller
