Océ adds 2.28 m dual-solvent inkjet printer

New Océ CS9090 joins Océ CS9065 to expand line

Venlo, the Netherlands, 15 May 2006—The new Océ CS9090 is a 2.28 meter-wide, high quality, production speed printer that can use either low-solvent or eco-solvent inks to create outdoor-durable prints. It joins the Océ CS9065, introduced in March 2006, in expanding the company’s line of outdoor-durable printers.

Océ CS9090 & Océ CS9065

The Océ CS9065 (165 cm wide) and Océ CS9090 (228 cm wide) are high speed, high quality printing systems that deliver outdoor durable output up to 3 yearsproduct-cs9090_p2bg_modD.jpg. The Océ CS9065 and Océ CS9090 offer true 720 x 720 dpi resolution at print speeds up to 13 m2 per hour in production (fourpass) mode. In high speed (two-pass) mode print speeds up to 22 m2 per hour can be achieved with a resolution of 360 x 720 dpi. Top print speeds of up to 42 m2 per hour can be achieved at 360 x 360 dpi resolution.  

 Océ VariaDot™ Imaging Technology

Both models offer superior print quality, speed and ink economy, through the use of Océ VariaDot Imaging Technology, the next evolution of piezo inkjet technology that enables a printhead to produce dots with variable sizes versus printheads using fixed dot technology. The use of VariaDot Imaging Technology has many advantages and results in the following customer benefits:

  • Superior print quality: Finer details and smoother gradients in highlight areas and crisp colours in the mid-tones and shadows.

  • Double the productivity: Four colour printing is perfect for all application
    areas. It doubles the productivity of the Océ CS9065 and CS9090 because the number of printhead nozzles per colour are doubled.

  • Superior ink economy: The ink usage of the Océ CS9065 and CS9090 is
    significantly lower compared to the ink usage of six colour printers using fixed dot inkjet technology; 25 to 35 percent less ink is used.

Ready for long, unattended production runs

The Océ CS9065 and Océ CS9090 are equipped with a motorized 100 kg winder and unwinder unit enabling the use of bulk media rolls. Both printers include sophisticated self-maintenance systems on board. The required daily operator maintenance is limited to less than five minutes when Low-solvent inks are used. Machines running Eco-solvent inks require no daily operator maintenance.

Dual-solvent inks

The Océ CS9065 and CS9090 can be equipped with either Low-solvent or Ecosolvent inks. Low-solvent inks produce less solvent odour than full-solvent inks and offer excellent outdoor durability up to 3 years. An optional Air Purification system is available which ensures a clean and safe working environment. By actively filtering the air coming from the printer the solvent
levels in the working area are far below accepted safety levels. Eco-solvent inks offers customers the outdoor benefits of solvent inks, while making it possible to use the printers in a regular office or small print shop environment without the need for an Air Purification System. Coated and uncoated media can be used, for indoor and short- to mid-term outdoor applications.

The Océ CS9065 and Océ CS9090 are ideal for short run print jobs and are designed for light production environments where high quality output and outdoor durability are required. Sample applications include point-ofpurchase
displays, vehicle graphics, transit advertising, exhibit graphics, banners, museum graphics, wayfinding and window displays.
